Summary

This is not a textbook。

It’s also not a book in which I tell you which version of history to believe。
Chronos isn’t a curriculum in the traditional it’s a guide developed over the past several years and created for the purpose of helping parents understand (1) different interpretations of the past, (2) the vast number of reputable sources in which to self-educate, and (3) how to think for themselves about human history。
As a homeschooler, I believe the best teachers are well-informed parents, and Chronos is a tool for that purpose。

This guide can also be a great refresher for high schoolers in between grades, as there are deeper lessons and questions for those levels。 But really, Chronos is first and foremost a tool for parents and guardians to historical illiteracy is a generations-deep problem in the United States, and this is a small but valiant effort to correct that problem。 Chronos will be a success in your homeschool if you--the parent-- become knowledgeable in the subject matter so that you can answer your child’s questions, or help them find the answer。 Again, this is not a textbook which tells you what to think, but rather a guidebook helping you cover and review important elements of human history which everyone should know。
For this purpose, Chronos begins with world history, then narrows to Western Civilization after the Fall of Rome, and finally narrows to American history during the Age of Exploration。 This narrowing is intentional, as Chronos seeks to answer the multi-generational historical illiteracy found specifically in the United States。 ( Note : World history is vitally important as well, and a separate curriculum should be used to address this subject。 I’ve written a supplemental world history curriculum as a free download for middle schoolers teacherspayteachers。com/Store/The-Hom。。。 )
